Week 31 Update

I went back to the doctor Friday and had quite a "scary" time. Last weekend I started coming down with what I thought was a cold. My doctor told me I could take Sudafed and so I started it on Sunday. By Monday, my blood sugars after fasting were almost at the 200 mark so I went to see our sweet school nurse to see if the Sudafed could cause it. She told me that it was more likely because I had an infection my body was fighting. At this point, I did not feel that bad, just really stuffy. She listened to my breathing while I was there and told me I had less air flow on the right side and recommended I call my Doctor. The doctor called me in a Z-Pack and also some iron pills because my blood work from the previous Friday showed my iron was low. Fast forward to Friday- day 4 on the Z-pack and I feel worse. I am now using my inhaler twice a day because my chest is really congested. My sinuses bothered me more than anything. When I got to her office, my doctor immediately did not like the way I sounded. She told me I was either going to have to go have a chest X-ray or she was going to admit me to be monitored. She was worried I may have Pneumonia. I thought this was just a follow up from the week before when I was having contractions and since I have not had any more (Thank GOD) I went by myself thinking it was just going to be a short visit. I secretly started to panic. We ended up going for the X-ray. She wants me back in her office Tuesday for a follow-up. I am thinking since I did not hear from her over the weekend- my X-ray was okay. I actually started feeling a little better today, but am going to take off tomorrow for one more day of rest just to be safe! I also have to take Potassium because that was low on my last blood screening as well. I went to the lab for more blood work to check it all again. Needless to say, this third trimester has been quite an adventure. Our goal is now six more weeks. I am so ready for my baby girl to be here, but we have so much still to do!!

School Shower

Last week at school my team gave me the best baby shower! We got so many great gifts and I had such a good time. Here a few pictures from the shower. I was just really coming down with the sinus/respiratory infection so I don't look my best :)

I'm Crafty!

My sweet husband and father have been helping me in the last few weeks with several "projects" for Carly's room. Sometimes they think I am crazy when I try to explain to them what I want them to do. My Dad thought I was nuts when I drew him a diagram of something I wanted built (which included dimensions). But they have been so sweet about it and they really try to make me happy. On Mother's Day I completed my bow holder project and really wanted to complete the cornice board for Carly's window. My Dad finished building it and I started to cover it. They decided they would just do it for me since I am not too great with the staple gun! Once we were finished they LOVED it and were just as proud as I am of it. They finally understood my "vision." David told me later that night that he loved that I am so "crafty" and that Carly's room will be so unique!

Here are some pictures along the way....

Here is the cornice board built to my instructions :)
Here we are covering the cornice board with cotton batting.

I must have missed the step where we covered it in fabric. Then I added a solid black ribbon around the edges and trimmed it with white sparkly boa. I cannot wait for David to finish the paint so we can hang it up! My Aunt is making her curtains in the striped fabric from her bedding and I know it will all be precious once put together!

Bow Holder

So now that I have almost mastered making bows, we have a ton of bows for Miss Carly! Right now they are all in a bag in her closet. I have been thinking about how I want to store them. I thought about putting them in a drawer in her dresser or the bathroom, but I don't want to have to dig to find the one I want. So I thought about buying a bow holder but I could not find one that matched her bedding that I really liked. I decided to make my own. I started looking online for ideas for a wooden one with the two ribbons hanging down to hang the bows. I came across a different bow holder and decided to try this one. I also made one for another baby shower I am going to.

First I gathered the supplies I needed.
  • Blank canvas (I did 16x20)
  • Paint to match her room colors
  • Ribbon of different sizes and designs to match

Next I painted the canvas

I added some clear glitter to add to it.

Next you cut the ribbons to the length needed. I also heat sealed the edges to make sure it did not fray. Then, you lay out the ribbon in the order you want it on the board. From there you staple it to the wood piece on the back of the canvas. I drew marks on the wood every half inch so I could make sure it was even. David stapled it for me because I had trouble getting the staples all the way in. They suggest using some type of craft glue but the staples were quick and easy! Here is my final products! I will add more pictures when I add the bows :)

The yellow one is for my friend at school and the pink one is Miss Carly's!

Here is the website where I got my instructions (I LOVE this site)

Carly's Room- Part 1

Part 1 of getting Carly's room ready is almost complete. David ran out of paint on the second coat of the last wall so hopefully he finishes it today. The color was a little darker than expected, but once we get her white furniture and bedding in there I think it will turn out perfect!

30 Weeks

Updates from the Doctor:
  • My blood pressure is creeping up again.
  • My blood sugars are rising
  • My weight is good
  • Carly is dropping
  • She is BIG
  • She is putting pressure on my cervix because of her size so we are experiencing a few contractions, but my cervix looks good.
  • I have to be off my feet as much as possible to take some pressure off my cervix
  • Because of everything above, I am now going back weekly and going to see the Perinatal Doctor sooner than we anticipated.
  • Our goal is 8 more weeks
  • Carly looked great on the sono :)
Last night I had a weird spell. I got really dizzy, my blood sugar was a little high, and then I started vomiting. Of course David freaked out and called my Mom. I went to bed and woke up this morning REALLY congested which I think may be the problem. I have not had any pains this weekend which I am thankful for!

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of my friends and family!

I am so blessed to have an amazing mother who has taught me the kind of mom I want to be to my Carly! Thank you Mom for everything you have done for me over the years, all of your support and encouragement, and for being such a wonderful role model for me. I love you!
